Prayers for the Week of March 21, 2021

Please feel free to join us in the prayers prayed in worship this Sunday, March 21, 2021:

Bless to us this day, O God,

the dawning of a new day,

the quiet of morning,

the companionship of friends,

the community of worship,

the new learning we will find,

the wisdom we will remember,

the sustenance of food,

the comfort of conversation,

the holy rest that comes

at the dimming of the day.

Bless to us this day, O God,

your presence in every moment.

Let everything within us bless you,

and the world you love.

Bless us this day, O God,

with tears to shed

with those who mourn;

with deep compassion

in the midst of a hurting world.

We pray for those in the midst of us

who grieve the loss of loved ones;

may we be a comfort and a friend.

We pray for the families

of those killed in the Atlanta shooting –

for an end to racism of every kind,

and especially today for an end

to the racism and violence targeted

toward Asian people and particularly women.

Bless us with anger at violence, injustice,

and the oppression of peoples.

May we hear the cries of those who hurt,

see our part in the systems that harm,

and help to end the violence of American racism.

We pray for those who are sick,

for those living with cancer,

for those reeling from COVID,

for those ailing in body or spirit

in every kind of affliction.

We pray for your healing presence.

We pray for those who hunger,

may we help provide food.

For those who are unhoused,

may we be shelter.

For those who are lonely,

may we be companions.

We join our prayers

with those of a weeping world –

a world that we have harmed.

And so we pray for the Earth.

Bless us with resolve

to see and name the damage we do,

and to change our ways –

our daily ways and the ways of our nation,

that we might heal and repair

this Earth that we have broken.

Bless to us this day, O God,

your presence in every moment.

Let everything within us bless you,

and the world you love,

as we join our prayers, with the prayers of those

in every place and every time

who have ever called on you, praying the prayer that Jesus taught:

praying the prayer that Jesus taught:

Our Father/Mother, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
