Prayers for the Week of January 10, 2021

Please feel free to join us this week in the prayers offered in worship this Sunday, January 10, 2021:
Loving Christ,
in the waters of baptism,
you have entered with us
into the whole of life,
even unto death,
pointing us to
even more life
beyond what we ever
thought possible.
You have claimed us
and named us “Beloved.”
We give you thanks and praise.
We gather today in
a trembling, troubled world.
In that shaken world,
we gather in your love,
and your justice,
steady and sure.
We pray for this nation
that we might repent
and find our way
to ways of
truth,
and justice,
and healing.
We pray for all those harmed
by the evils of systemic racism.
May we have the courage and clarity
to do the work to dismantle those systems,
and build with you a world
where all can live free.
We pray for all those suffering in pandemic,
for healing,
for strength,
for comfort,
for discipline to participate with you
in bringing an end to this suffering and death.
We pray for
shelter for those who are unhoused,
food for those who are hungry,
companionship for those who are lonely,
comfort for those who mourn.
Thank you for claiming us
and the whole world
as your own beloved.
Thank you for the gift
of life to live in community.
With one voice, we join our voices
with all who have ever called on you,
praying the prayer that Jesus taught:
Our Father/Mother, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
