Prayers for the Week of March 31, 2024

Please feel free to join us in the prayers prayed in worship Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024:

God of Resurrection,

in the beginning,  you breathed life into all that is,

and you sustain your creation with your abiding Spirit.

You accompany your people in love,

through the whole of life,

even unto death, and beyond death,

into even more life.

In all our stumbling and fumbling,

you surround with your abounding grace,

every day, a brand new day.

Filled again with Resurrection life,

we give you thanks and praise.

In Jesus Christ, you have shown us

what it is to be fully human,

and so we come to you with every bit of us,

all the praise and Alleluia’s,

and the tender things

that weigh heavy on our heart.

We bring you our care and concerns,

knowing that you are already at work,

loving the world into wholeness.

We pray for your stunningly beautiful creation,

for a world that we have damaged beyond our ability to make things right.

In these days of climate unravelling,

teach us better ways of sustaining your creation,

help us put back together the broken pieces, as we can.

May your grace abound in healing world you love.

As so many suffer violence, hunger, and fear,

we pray for the people of Gaza, and particularly of Rafah,

Prevent any further attack on those already vulnerable and hurting.

We pray for their safety and well-being,

for end to the indiscriminate killing,

for the restoration of systems that bring what is needed for life,

food, water, shelter, medical care;

for the return of hostages;

for an end to genocide.

We pray for an end to all systems that harm and hurt,

particularly systems of American racism.

Show us the work that is ours to do to dismantle, repair, and rebuild.

We pray for those who are hungry, for food enough and more,

for those who are unhoused, shelter,

for those who are ailing and hurting, healing,

for those who mourn, comfort,

for those who are lonely, companionship.

On this Day of Resurrection,

we lean into the life, love, and abounding grace that we experience in you.

Alive in the lives we lead,

may it be – for the world you love – a Word of justice, healing, and peace.

We celebrate this Day of Resurrection,

with kindred around the world and down through time.

We join our voices with theirs, praying the prayer that Jesus taught, saying:

Our Father/Mother, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
