Please feel free to join us in the prayers prayed in worship Homecoming Sunday, September 10, 2023:
Loving God,
you have created all that is;
you accompany your creation
in all our comings and goings,
weaving us together in community;
and in Resurrection,
you breathe new life into us,
again and again, and always.
You knit us together in the Body of Christ,
and by the power of your Spirit,
your love comes to life in us –
we stand in awe,
and we give you thanks and praise.
Help us embody your love
that we might share together
in meeting the deep need of the world.
We pray for an end to every kind of violence in every place
for peace wherever there is war,
for healing wherever there is hurt,
for the dismantling of every system that oppresses,
particularly systemic American racism,
for an end to the harm we do to our planet.
We pray for those who are unhoused,
and for those who are refugees,
for safe shelter;
For those who are hungry, food enough and more;
for those who are ailing in body or in spirit, healing,
for those who are lonely, companionship,
for those who are grieving, comfort.
In the Body of Christ, in the lives we live,
may your love come to life in us.
With those all who have ever called on your name,
we lean into your goodness and steadfast love,
praying together the prayer that Jesus taught, saying:
Our Father/Mother, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
