Prayers for the Week of January 18, 2026

Please feel free to join us in the prayers prayed in worship Sunday, January 18, 2026:

Loving God, you created everything that is,

your awesome and fabulous world.

In love, you created the Earth –

the mountains and seas,

forests and deserts,

all the creatures that crawl and fly and swim,

you created us in the image of you,

and called all you had made, “Good.”

We celebrate your creation,

and join you in naming it good.

And as we celebrate,

help us also be humble.

Help us see ourselves as interconnected with all creation,

help us see our responsibility to live in relationships

of mutuality and care with and for all you have made.

Help us heal the world we have damaged to the point of unravelling,

living courageously and compassionately in new realities we have unleashed.

Help us work to dismantle every system that oppresses,

to listen to those who have been harmed,

and to change.

We pray that you would turn our nation

from governance by violence, threat, and intimidation,

to new ways of cooperation and collaboration.

Change us, so that the way we order our lives

might embody more human decency,

and honor the basic human dignity of every person.

Help us raise up better leaders,

and help us use our freedoms for good.

We pray for all who living in war and experiencing violence,

for peace with justice.

We pray for those who are hungry, food enough and more.

For those who are grieving, comfort.

For those who are ailing in body or spirit, healing.

Each day, give us something to learn,

something that challenges us and helps us be more fully human together.

Woven together in the Body of Christ,

interconnected with every bit of your creation.

we join our voices with the voices of all who have ever called on you,

praying the prayer that Jesus taught:

Our Father/Mother, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
