Career Transition Support Group

FPCSA is actively addressing the challenge of unemployment or similar transitions, for those within our community who may be struggling with such issues. Each Wednesday, the  Career Transition Support Group meets in the Conference Room in the church office, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. Its purpose, as its name implies, is to network, comfort and support each other. A sample meeting agenda generally includes introductions, the reading and reflections of a Scriptural text, individual updates, and/or setting individual weekly goals. The sharing of each one’s current situation often leads to brainstorming within the circle … sometimes with surprisingly helpful results.

In April, the Career Transition Support Group began a new book study, using The Way of Discernment, written by Elizabeth Liebert, Professor of Spiritual Life and current dean of San Francisco Theological Seminary. Dr. Liebert introduces the concept of discernment – the practice of making faithful decisions – and invites us to begin our own discernment journey.
At the heart of the book is a series of helpful practices that can be done individually or in a group setting. Through these  practices, Dr. Liebert shows us how to become increasingly aware of God’s work in the world and in us, and in response, to make decisions that are more thoughtful, more faithful, and wiser.

CTSG meets every Wednesday morning from 9:00 am to 10:30 am in the church office conference room.

All are welcome to this group. We value how each one adds to the discussion (even in silence) and toward the purpose of encouragement. As we build community, with God’s grace, we empower each other to make it through various transitions and on to new beginnings, however small. We serve each other as “Together We Serve”.
