Reflections on REST

REST guests model their new knitwear

On Friday, December 23rd, we welcomed 30 or so men to share a meal with us and sleep in Duncan Hall as a part of our participation in the Marin County-wide REST program (Rotating Emergency Winter Shelter). As is our tradition, the Closely Knit Group graciously distributed hand-knit hats, scarves, and fingerless mittens.  Phyllis Schlobohm and Shirley New helped our guests with their selections, dispensing fashion/color feedback when requested.  The knitwear was a huge hit, in particular the fingerless mittens. (The hard-working overnight Shelter staff, Dominique and Charlie, model their new knitwear).  Major kudos and thanks to the many knitters who donated their time, and the fruits of their labors, to our grateful guests. Lots of smiles everywhere we looked.
