“Ministry” is from the Greek word diakoneo, meaning “to serve.” Ministry is seen as service to God and to other people in the name of God. We have many ministries at First Pres–from serving the homeless, to working collaboratively with others on issues of social justice, to telling the story on Sunday mornings.
We recognize that people of all ages are enriched when they participate together in a common life of worship and in forming a community. Learn more about our focused ministries for children, youth, families, and older adults.
We want to be a place where young children can experience God, and where parents can feel nurtured and supported. On Sunday mornings we offer nursery care and Sunday School for infants and children in grades K through 5th. More about children→
For our middle school and high school kids we offer a variety of youth activities including Bible study, singing, and conversations as well as mission projects, and fun field trips to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Bowling, caroling and summer hikes are just a few more of the fun things we do. More about youth→
We have a special place in our hearts for families. We know it is not easy to parent children in our often over-scheduled world. We are the “village” that encircles our families with wisdom, shared experiences, and laughter. More about families→
There is no general definition of “older adult population” here! We range in age from 55 to 100 and we are bonded by our faith and opportunities for fellowship. More about older adults→

First Sunday in Lent, we explore "Vulnerable Love" in worship and our Sunday Seminar Bible study of John 3:1-17; also by writing letters to Governor Brown about fracking. We'll show Brene Brown's TEDTalk in the after-worship Bible study.
